"Compress" is a game where you use a hand of just eight cards to "take notes" about a growing sequence of numbered cards and then provide the correct answer. There are only four types of cards with simple designs featuring either the number 0 or 1 on a white or black background. As you play cards from your hand and draw new ones, your "note-taking" cards are being constantly updated.
During this exciting tension, a revolutionary ingenuity springs forth from your brain in an instant!
Whether you feel some regret after giving it your all but falling short or have a lingering mental rush after sucessfully clearing your goal, it’s a game that makes you want to challenge yourself over and over again.
"0, 1, 1, 0, 0..." You "record" these sequences of 0s and 1s by arranging cards on the table. However, you only have 8 "note cards" which acts as hints to help guide you. As the sequence grows longer, "0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 1...", it's time to flex those brainwaves of yours. You create your own recording rules, such as "a black 0 card represents two consecutive 0s" or "placing a white 1 card sideways represents 1, 0", to keep track of the ever-expanding sequence.
The solid color design of the components is also part of the charm.
Should you change the orientation of the cards? Hide cards with other cards? Use the numbers in the four corners?
Utilizing the penalty cards, which feature different designs on the front and back, also provides a chance to condense your sequence further.
There are infinite ways you can "take notes" and succeed!
Everone takes notes differently. How will you do it? In Compress, you are the rulemaster!
